Dear Valued Client,
In the light of recent cyber security incidents at some financial institutions in Hong Kong, our company would like to remind you to be vigilant about cyber security and recommend the following preventive measures:
Key Online Trading Security Tips
Login Passwords
Set passwords that are difficult to guess and different from those used for other services. Update your login passwords regularly and never record them on your computer, mobile phone, or in plain sight. Never disclose your password to anyone, including our staff or account representatives.
Computers and Mobile Devices
Protect the devices you use to access your accounts. Avoid logging in through public computers or public Wi-Fi networks.
Authentic Website and App
Always access your online trading account by directly typing the URL, using bookmarks, or through the official mobile App. Do not log in or provide personal information (including passwords) through emails, online links or attachments.
Login Process
Check for any abnormalities during the login process (such as suspicious pop-ups or requests for additional personal information) and be mindful of anyone trying to observe your password. Remember to log out immediately after use.
Review Account Transactions
Regularly check your account balance, transaction records, and statements. Immediately notify your account representative or our Account Executive and Customer Services Department (Tel: (852) 3168 0320) if you notice any issues or unauthorized transactions.
Key Points for Protecting Computers and Mobile Devices
Passwords
Set strong passwords for your computer and mobile devices, enable auto-lock functions, and update passwords regularly.
Secure Systems and Processes
Use the latest versions of operating systems, online trading apps, and browsers. Do not jailbreak or root your mobile devices.
Prevent Malware
Install and regularly update security software. Avoid downloading or opening suspicious files, browsing suspicious websites, or clicking on links and attachments from unknown sources. Only download and update apps from official app stores or trusted sources.
Network Functions
Turn off wireless network functions (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC) when not in use. If using Wi-Fi, choose an encrypted network and remove unnecessary Wi-Fi connection settings.
